Heavy rain warning issued for Cianjur for the next two days

The Cianjur Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Java has noted that all areas in Cianjur are at risk of heavy rain over the next two days, based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). Consequently, communities in disaster-prone areas are urged to remain alert.

The Head of Emergency and Logistics at BPBD Cianjur, Samudra Wira Purnama, stated on Friday that BMKG has issued an early warning for several regions in West Java that are prone to heavy rain, particularly in Cianjur.

His agency is urging the public, especially those residing in natural disaster-prone areas such as the Cibeber, Campaka, and Mande districts, as well as several areas in southern Cianjur, to remain prepared and vigilant, and to carefully monitor signs of potential disasters.

“We also request that managers of tourist attractions and motorists travelling along the main routes in Cianjur be wary of the potential for heavy rain over the next two days,” he said.

Motorists passing through the area are advised to increase their preparedness and caution, suggesting it is safer to stop in a secure location when heavy rain occurs and to avoid parking or stopping under trees that are at risk of falling.

According to him, BMKG has identified several regions in West Java at risk of heavy rain under a ‘standby’ category, including Cianjur Regency, where heavy rainfall is predicted for the next two days.

As the dry season continues to affect the region, the agency has also requested that the public refrain from burning rubbish and discarding cigarette butts carelessly, as much of the dried grass and weeds are highly flammable.

“The emergency standby status for drought, which has been in effect for three months, will end in September 2026. Even though some rain has fallen, the public is still requested not to engage in indiscriminate rubbish burning while cleaning their environments,” he added.
