Heavy Rain Causes Flooding on Swadarma and Ciledug Raya Roads in South Jakarta

Head of the Data and Information Centre (Kapusdatin) of the DKI Jakarta BPBD, Muhammad Yohan, stated that ponding occurred due to high rainfall intensity which triggered a rise in water levels at the Pesanggrahan post to level 3 alert status at 4:00 PM WIB. “BPBD records that there are currently two roads affected by ponding. The water height ranges from 30 to 70 cm and is currently being handled,” Yohan said in his statement on Monday (4/5/2026). The two roads affected by ponding are Jalan Swadarma in Ulujami Ward and Jalan Ciledug Raya (Seskoal) in Cipulir Ward, South Jakarta. The DKI Jakarta BPBD has deployed personnel to monitor conditions in the field and coordinate with relevant agencies, such as the Water Resources Agency, Road Infrastructure Agency, and Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat). Officers are also conducting water pumping and ensuring that drainage channels function optimally. In addition, coordination is being carried out with local ward heads and district heads to accelerate the handling of ponding. “The ponding is targeted to recede quickly,” he said. The DKI Jakarta BPBD also urges the public to remain alert to the potential for ponding. Residents are asked to be careful when passing through affected areas. In emergency conditions, the public can contact the 112 telephone service which operates 24 hours and is free of charge.
