Heavy Rain Causes Fallen Tree to Block Road Access in Lagoa, North Jakarta
Heavy rain that had been battering the Jakarta area since the early hours of the morning caused a tree to fall, blocking road access in Lagoa, Koja, North Jakarta.
The incident occurred on Gang D3, Jalan Mangga, RT 09/RW 04, Kelurahan Lagoa, Kecamatan Koja, North Jakarta. The tree, which lay across the middle of the road, was reported directly by a resident named Solikin, who went to the Lagoa Fire and Rescue Post at 06:02 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
Upon receiving the report of the traffic obstruction caused by the fallen tree, the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Damkar), under the command of Duty Officer Akhmad Fajarudin, responded swiftly. One light rescue unit (2.13-02) with a force of five personnel from the Bandung Group was dispatched to the scene.
Officers arrived at the location at 06:14 WIB and immediately began the evacuation process using wood-cutting equipment one minute later.
“A resident reported seeing the fallen tree blocking vehicle access. Our personnel immediately carried out the response so that residents’ activities would not be disrupted for any longer than necessary,” said Gatot Sulaeman, Head of the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Section, in a statement on Friday (20 February 2026).
The clearance operation lasted approximately 45 minutes. Officers cut the branches and trunk of the tree into smaller sections to facilitate the clearing of the route. By precisely 07:00 WIB, the obstruction had been fully removed and the road was once again safely passable for vehicles.
The situation at the location is currently reported as stable. Although there were no casualties or notable material damage, officers continued to urge residents to remain vigilant against the potential for falling trees, particularly during extreme weather events affecting the North Jakarta area.
