Heavy Rain Causes Collapse of Aged SDN Building in Magetan Regency
Magetan (ANTARA) - The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Magetan, East Java, recorded the collapse of a building at State Elementary School (SDN) 2 Bendo in Bendo Village, Bendo Subdistrict, due to its rotten and aged condition. According to information, the school building collapsed on Sunday (12/4) night after heavy rain lashed the local village area from afternoon to evening. The Head of the BPBD Implementation Unit for Magetan Regency, Eka Radityo, stated in Magetan on Monday that there were no fatalities in the incident, but the collapsed building materials struck a truck owned by Iskandar (55), a local resident, which was parked beside the school. “The truck sustained moderate damage to several parts of its body from being hit by the building debris,” he said. “We immediately coordinated with the school, residents, and the Magetan Education, Youth, and Sports Office (Disdikpora) for further handling steps,” said Eka Radityo. A community work cleanup of the collapsed building materials was carried out on Monday (13/4) morning starting at 08:00 WIB, involving BPBD personnel, school staff, and local residents. The officials worked together to clear the rubble.
