Heavy Rain Causes Ceiling Collapse at Gate 7 Boarding Lounge, Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta Airport

Passengers at the Boarding Lounge Gate 7, Terminal 3, Soekarno-Hatta Airport nearly got hit by a falling ceiling during heavy rain on Monday (6/4/2026). The leak, which initially appeared as slow dripping water, suddenly turned into a full roof collapse in the waiting area. The incident occurred while several prospective passengers were waiting for the boarding process. One witness, the owner of the Threads account @r.grnda_, said the leak was first noticed by water slowly dripping from the ceiling. However, the seepage grew larger as the rain poured heavily. Shortly after, the roof at that point collapsed, and water gushed down forcefully. According to him, quite a few passengers were under the leak location, but they managed to evade it. “There were quite a few people underneath, thank God they still had time to run,” he said. At the time of the incident, the witness was waiting for the boarding process for a flight to Singapore at Gate 7 Terminal 3. Although it caused some panic, airport staff reportedly handled the situation promptly by cleaning the affected area. “They’re still cleaning up, but they’re quick on their feet,” he said. Meanwhile, Assistant Deputy for Communication and Legal Affairs at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Yudistiawan, said the roof disruption was brief. “The disruption at that one point on the roof lasted for about 5 minutes,” Yudistiawan stated when contacted. “Airport operational staff immediately took action, including cleaning and restricting the affected area, so the situation could be quickly controlled,” he added.
