Heavy Mudik Traffic Leads to Implemention of Alternating Access on MBZ Toll Road to Cikampek

Ahead of the Lebaran mudik peak, PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek (PT JJC) is implementing situational alternating entry access on the Mohamed Bin Zayed (MBZ) Elevated Toll Road section towards Cikampek. The traffic engineering involves alternating openings at the Jati Asih, Kalimalang, and KM 10 A entry points. “This traffic arrangement has been in effect since Wednesday, 18 March 2026, at 22:24 due to the high volume of vehicles passing through the MBZ Elevated Toll Road section,” as quoted from a press release on Thursday, 19 March 2026. Due to the high vehicle volume, disruptions have been reported, including vehicles overheating, running out of fuel, flat tyres, and other issues. Additionally, the alternating access is also applied to reduce density at the KM 48 exit on the MBZ Elevated Toll Road, which is a convergence point for traffic from the Jakarta-Cikampek route. This arrangement is intended to disperse vehicle queues and maintain smooth traffic flow during the mudik season. PT JJC also advises road users to ensure the condition of drivers and vehicles is optimal. “Road users are urged to ensure the condition of drivers and vehicles is optimal, maintain sufficient electrical power and fuel (BBM), and anticipate potential weather changes, particularly rain that can affect visibility and road surface conditions, so that the journey can proceed safely and comfortably until reaching the destination,” PT JJC stated. The implementation of situational alternating access serves as a measure to manage traffic flow on the MBZ Elevated Toll Road in facing the dense Lebaran mudik traffic and vehicle operational disruptions.
