Heavy Equipment Deployed to Evacuate Victims of Housing Explosion in Medan
Police have stated that four people are believed to be trapped following an explosion at a luxury house in the elite Grand Polonia housing complex in Medan, North Sumatra. Heavy equipment has been deployed to evacuate the victims. At the scene, a number of heavy machines were observed being mobilised, including a mobile crane and an excavator. The heavy equipment was seen clearing debris from the house that had scattered onto the road. The machinery was also being used to remove material blocking access to the three-storey luxury home. Several Basarnas personnel were visible on standby at the location, along with a number of police officers. The evacuation process was still underway into the evening, with officers from both Basarnas and the police remaining at the scene. Previously, police stated that six people were believed to have been inside the luxury house, numbered 3B, which was the site of the explosion. Two of them have been evacuated. ‘Currently, the data we have obtained indicates there were six people living inside. Of those six, a man has been successfully evacuated, and a toddler is currently being treated at one of the hospitals,’ said Medan Police Chief Commissioner Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak.
