Heavy Eid Exodus Traffic Prompts Two-Lane Contraflow on Japek Toll Road KM 55-70
CIKAMPEK, KOMPAS.com – The Eid al-Fitr 1447 H exodus traffic heading towards the eastern Trans-Java region is becoming increasingly congested. In response to the escalation in vehicle volume, PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has officially implemented a traffic engineering measure in the form of a two-lane contraflow from KM 55 to KM 70 on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road towards Cikampek, on Sunday (22/3/2026) at 12.24 WIB. The application of this counterflow scheme is situational, involving intensive coordination between the toll road operator and on-site personnel to maintain the rhythm of vehicle movement and ensure it continues to flow smoothly. Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, explained that the addition of lanes through contraflow is a key instrument for maintaining the smoothness of this year’s exodus traffic. “This is our effort to ensure that the flow of vehicles heading towards the eastern Trans-Java region remains under control. JTT, together with the police, continues to monitor traffic conditions in real-time to ensure this arrangement runs optimally,” said Ria. Given that the contraflow engineering involves the use of opposing lanes, safety aspects are the top priority. JTT urges Eid travellers to increase their vigilance, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and strictly adhere to signs and instructions from officers. “We ask drivers to ensure their physical condition and vehicles are in top shape. Do not push yourself if tired,” added Ria. Entering the long holiday period, travellers are also advised to be wary of potential extreme weather changes that could affect visibility and road conditions. The latest information on traffic conditions can be accessed periodically through the Travoy application, the official social media of Jasa Marga Transjawa Tol, or by contacting Jasa Marga’s One Call Center at number 14080 (previously 133), which operates 24 hours.
