Heating Up! US Strikes Iran's Revolutionary Guard Bases

Iranian authorities said the United States military struck a base belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the northern province of Gilan.

“This morning, the IRGC naval forces headquarters in Zibakenar was targeted by enemy American projectiles, which damaged several pieces of equipment at the complex,” said Ali Bagheri, deputy governor of Gilan province, as quoted by Iran’s official news agency IRNA, cited by AFP on Friday (24/7/2026).

Meanwhile, the Iranian military said on Friday that it had again carried out drone attacks against several American military facilities and bases in Bahrain and Jordan, in retaliation for the latest US strikes against the Islamic republic.

“This morning, fuel tanks, large equipment warehouses, silos and barracks of the terrorist American army at Isa Air Base in Bahrain were targeted by Arash kamikaze drones,” the Iranian military said in a statement broadcast by Iranian state television.

An AFP journalist in Bahrain reported explosions and warning sirens in the country on Friday morning local time, although it was not yet clear whether the two events were connected.

The Iranian military also claimed drone attacks against Jordan, targeting “aircraft hangars, aviation maintenance hangars and barracks” at the Al-Azraq base.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Friday (24/7) that Iran would hold accountable any state that assisted the United States in attacks against the Islamic republic.

Tehran maintains that any facility or military base in the Middle East used by the US military to attack Iran is considered a legitimate target for retaliation.

“Any participation, cooperation or assistance in carrying out aggression against Iran will entail international responsibility for the parties involved,” Araghchi said during a meeting in Kyrgyzstan. He added that Iran “has the right to take all necessary actions within the framework of self-defence”.
