Heartbreaking Will Found with Abandoned Baby in Jember: 'When She's Grown Up, Please…'

A baby girl was found on the porch of a residence on Jalan Arowana, Kebon Agung Village, Kaliwates District, Jember, on Wednesday, 11 February 2026.

As seen in a post on the Instagram account @jakarta.keras, the baby was discovered inside a cardboard box, wrapped in a towel, accompanied by a letter believed to have been written by her parents.

On a piece of pink paper, the baby’s name was written along with a touching message from someone believed to be her biological mother. The letter’s author also conveyed an apology for troubling the person who found the baby.

“Hello, kind person. Let me introduce myself — my name is CLARA ELLIERA. I was born on Wednesday, 11 February 2026. Please forgive my papa and mama for troubling you. They promise they will come looking for me,” the letter read.

The baby’s parents also wrote a request that their daughter one day be given her mother’s hair clip to wear.

“Oh, and when I’m grown up, please put my mama’s hair clip in my hair,” the letter continued. Inside the box, a hair clip matching the one described in the letter was also found.

Information gathered from various sources indicates that the act of abandoning the baby was also captured on CCTV cameras near the location. The footage shows two people on a motorcycle stopping at the scene. One of them dismounted and placed the cardboard box on the porch of the house before leaving the area.

The baby was first discovered by a local resident named Rosyid, who became suspicious of the cardboard box on the porch. Upon inspection, the box was found to contain a living baby girl.

The Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit of the Jember Police Criminal Investigation Division, Inspector Alfan Febrianto, stated that based on the crime scene examination, the baby was found in healthy condition.

“We suspect the baby was newly born. Inside the cardboard box where the baby was found, there was a sheet of paper bearing a written will from her biological mother,” he said on Wednesday, 11 February 2026.

He added that although the baby was in good health, she was taken to a medical facility for further care. Meanwhile, police are continuing their investigation to identify those responsible for abandoning the baby.
