Heartbreaking Scenes on Flores Island After NTT Earthquake
The earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara on Saturday (15/8) with a magnitude of 7.7 caused severe damage in a number of areas on Flores Island. The government has confirmed that post-earthquake handling is moving quickly, with a focus on rescuing victims, restoring basic services, reopening access, and collecting data on damage to homes and public facilities. BNPB data up to Monday (17/8) recorded 68 fatalities and 213 injuries as a result of the earthquake. BMKG predicts that aftershocks in East Nusa Tenggara will continue to occur for the next three to four weeks.
