Hearing in Andrie Yunus Acid Attack Case Today: Prosecutor to Examine 8 Witnesses

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The hearing for the acid attack case against the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus, resumed at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta in East Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

The agenda of the hearing involves examining eight witnesses.

“Yes, witness examination is scheduled, with the hearing set to commence at 10:00 WIB,” said the Spokesperson for the Military Court II-08 Jakarta, Major Chk Endah Wulandari, when contacted on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

“However, if all hearing equipment is ready, it could start earlier,” she explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Military Audit Office II-07 Jakarta, Colonel Chk Andri Wijaya, confirmed that they would present eight witnesses at the trial. The witnesses consist of three civilians and five from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

“There are eight witnesses to be presented,” said Andri.

He also mentioned that they had issued a summons to the victim to appear as a witness.

“It has been done; it can be heard at the trial,” said Andri.

The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) has requested that the Jakarta Military Court halt the summons for Andrie Yunus to appear in person at the hearing for the alleged acid attack.

TAUD member Alif Fauzi Nurwidiastomo stated that they have strong reasons for Andrie Yunus not to be present at the hearing.

“There are sufficient reasons under Article 144 of the new Criminal Code, which guarantees victims’ rights, including recovery for the victim,” Alif said during a press conference at YLBHI in Central Jakarta on Monday (4/5/2026).

“This provides sufficient grounds for the presiding judge to discontinue or proceed with the summoning process, given the ongoing recovery process for Andrie,” he added.
