West Java Provincial DPRD member Iwan Koswara absorbed various community aspirations during an oversight activity on government administration in Babakan Sari Ward, Kiaracondong District, Bandung City, on Friday (8/5/2026). The event served as a dialogue forum regarding various issues still felt by the community. In the meeting, residents conveyed several problems ranging from strengthening the people’s economy, the education system, to the welfare of Community Social Workers (PSM). The majority of residents, who are micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) actors, complained about the difficulty in obtaining capital access to develop their businesses. “These community aspirations provide a real picture of the conditions on the ground. UMKM issues, education, and social worker welfare must be serious concerns for the government. We in the DPRD will push for policies that truly favour the people,” said Iwan. Besides economic issues, residents also highlighted the zoning system in New Student Admission (PPDB). According to them, the system still creates inequalities for high-achieving students hindered by distance to preferred public schools. The community hopes the government conducts a comprehensive evaluation so that access to education can be more fair and equitable. Other aspirations came from PSM members who requested more attention from the government, especially regarding operational support and incentives. They consider the presence of PSM to have an important role in assisting social services in the community, thus requiring adequate support so that services to residents can run optimally. Iwan added that such oversight activities are important to ensure local government policies remain aligned with the real needs of the community. Thus, various government programmes are not merely administrative but can also provide real impacts on residents’ welfare.
