Healthy Lifestyle Consumption Trends Strengthen the Wellness Industry Ecosystem
The wellness industry in Bali continues to show promising growth in line with increasing public awareness of healthy lifestyles. The Canggu area, known as a hub for global communities and health-seeking tourists, has become one of the epicentres for the development of holistic health businesses on the Island of the Gods. Seeing this opportunity, the founder of Amarta Detox, Lisa Zen Purba, has developed a wellness centre that has now reached its two-year milestone since its establishment on 10 June 2024. Starting from lymphatic massage and pilates services, Amarta Detox has now evolved into a major player in the Bali wellness market by offering detoxification services, health technology, and longevity programmes. “Thank God we are already 2 years old. Initially, our services started from lymphatic massage and pilates only, now we have added a service programme called Bali Longevity,” said Lisa Zen Purba on Thursday (11/6/2026). Lisa explained that the Bali Longevity programme is designed to help people maintain their quality of life and prevent chronic diseases through a comprehensive approach that includes nutrition, physical activity, sleep quality, and stress management. According to Lisa, the high interest in healthy living patterns means the wellness market in Bali continues to grow and has strong long-term prospects. The trend of consuming healthy food, exercising, and the formation of various wellness communities further strengthens the ecosystem of the industry. “The Bali market never fades, yes. Never, let alone dies. Especially in Canggu,” she said. To meet increasingly diverse market needs, Amarta Detox introduced various modern health technologies such as infrared light therapy, vibration plates, and services focused on brain health. These innovations complement the manual therapies that have been the company’s mainstay. Currently, Amarta Detox has two branches in Canggu and Umalas. The Canggu branch targets tourists and the international community, while Umalas focuses more on the growing residential market needs. Lisa estimates that the advantage of a wellness business no longer lies solely in body care services, but in the ability to provide comprehensive health education. To this end, Amarta Detox actively holds workshops, seminars, and certification programmes for wellness practitioners. “First, this lymphatic detox massage is certainly aimed at detoxifying the body. Second, we are enriched with wellness devices and technology. Third, we aren’t just about massage, we have movement,” she stressed. Looking ahead, she continued, Amarta Detox will continue to develop programmes based on six pillars of health: nutrition, body movement, sleep management, stress management, social interaction, and avoidance of harmful substances. The second anniversary celebration of Amarta Detox was also filled with limited discussions featuring Doctor of Clinical Nutrition and Founder of Nutrelegant, Dr Sharmelle Pittmon DCN, and psychologist Ida Ayu Saraswati Indraharsani MPsi. The activity was part of an effort to strengthen health literacy amidst the rapid growth of Bali’s wellness industry. “With more tourists and residents making health a priority, Bali is considered likely to remain one of the most attractive wellness markets in Southeast Asia in the coming years,” concluded Lisa.
