Healthy Eid: LG Electronics Indonesia Supports Recovery After Pasirlangu Disaster
Support continues to flow for the victims of the landslide in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua Subdistrict, West Bandung Regency. One such contribution comes from PT LG Electronics Indonesia (LG). The company organised a social programme titled LG Lebaran Sehat in Pasirlangu. This activity forms part of the company’s efforts to support the recovery of the local community following the landslide disaster that struck at the end of January.
“In the midst of this Eid atmosphere, we hope that LG’s presence can provide support to the community. Not only physically, but also in rebuilding spirit and hope, especially during the post-disaster recovery period,” said Ha Sang-chul, President of LG Electronics Indonesia.
According to him, this aligns with LG’s commitment encapsulated in the tagline Life’s Good when We Do Good, with every initiative expected to deliver sustainable positive impacts.
The LG Lebaran Sehat programme itself is the company’s annual agenda, timed to coincide with Eid al-Fitr. Entering its fourth year, as the name suggests, the main component is the provision of healthy food to the community, combined with other programmes tailored to the recipients’ needs.
This year’s implementation took place in the Pasirlangu area as one of the regions affected by the late January landslide, which resulted in fatalities and some residents temporarily reported missing. The company structured the LG Lebaran Sehat programme with three focuses: social, health, and education.
1,000 healthy meal packages
In the social aspect, LG distributed 1,000 healthy meal packages to the surrounding community. To ensure nutritional adequacy, all meals were composed with a balanced nutritional profile, referring to the guidelines of the GERMAS (Healthy Living Community Movement) programme from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.
At the same time, attention to the health aspect was addressed through collaboration with the local Integrated Service Post (Posyandu). One form was health check-ups for toddlers to monitor growth and development while detecting potential stunting early.
In addition, LG provided 100 bottles of vitamins for toddlers as recommended by healthcare professionals.
Educational toys
On the same occasion, focusing on the education aspect, LG donated three sets of educational toys for Early Childhood Education (PAUD) at SPS Aster Village, Pasirlangu. This activity was accompanied by colouring sessions and the distribution of school supply packages for primary school students affected.
“This is our effort to restore and further support the growing enthusiasm for learning among the children during this post-disaster recovery period,” said Rudy Tambuwun, Branch Manager for the Bandung Area at LG Electronics Indonesia.
The entire series of activities also prioritised the use of eco-friendly, recyclable materials. This initiative serves as an initial education for children on the importance of adopting a sustainable lifestyle.
Furthermore, he stated that LG Lebaran Sehat is part of one of the company’s social initiative pillars, namely LG Loves and Cares, which focuses on community social activities. This pillar supports various company social initiatives encompassed in LG Loves Indonesia.
Social initiatives
Besides LG Loves and Cares, LG Loves Indonesia has three other pillars: LG Loves Green for environmental conservation, LG Loves School for education, and LG Loves Children, which emphasises the development of Indonesian children.
Ha Sang-chul stated that the existence of these various social initiative pillars under LG Loves Indonesia reflects LG’s ongoing efforts to contribute more tangibly to society. This forms part of the company’s long-term commitment, not only focused on business growth but also on improving community quality of life through corporate social responsibility initiatives.
