Healthy Baby Abandoned on Denpasar Roadside with Mouth Taped Shut

A baby girl was found abandoned in a shopping bag on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Gang Penataran Sari, Banjar Pekandelan, Pemecutan Klod village, West Denpasar, at 11.45 Wita on Friday (12/6/2026). The incident shocked local residents and passing motorists. Disturbingly, the baby was found alive but with her mouth taped shut.

“The baby is still healthy, still red, but when she was found her mouth was covered with duct tape,” said West Denpasar Police Chief Kompol Ni Wayan Adnyani Prabawati on Friday evening.

A resident who saw the unfortunate baby took the initiative to carry her and bring her to a nearby shop to get a blanket to cover the infant’s tiny body. Police who received information about the discovery immediately went to the location. “We received the information shortly after and promptly handled it,” Adnyani said.

Members of the West Denpasar Police then took the baby to a nearby clinic for further treatment. Fortunately, when examined by medical personnel, the baby was found to be in good health with no injuries or abrasions on her body. “The baby was found healthy and received medical treatment. This case is still under further investigation to find the baby’s parents,” she concluded.
