Health reasons prompt three defendants in MXGP land corruption case to seek change in detention status
Mataram (ANTARA) - Three defendants in the alleged corruption case regarding the procurement of land for the MXGP Circuit site in the Samota area, Sumbawa Island, West Nusa Tenggara, have submitted requests to change their detention status during the first hearing at the Corruption Court at the Mataram District Court on Wednesday. The three defendants are Subhan, Muhammad Jan, and Saifullah Zulkarnaen. The requests were made through their legal advisory team after the public prosecutor read the indictment before the panel of judges chaired by Lalu Moh. Sandi Iramaya. The chief judge stated that they would first study the basis of the defendants’ requests. “We will consider it objectively,” he said. “Health condition. In November last month, he suffered a stroke and thus requires intensive treatment. We have attached the medical records and the doctor’s certificate from the prison,” he said. He added that Muhammad Jan also suffers from diabetes which requires routine examinations. “They are examined intensively every week, including laboratory tests,” he said. Meanwhile, defendant Subhan through his legal advisor, Kurniadi, also submitted a similar request citing a history of lung disease. “Our client has a history of acute GERD and fluid buildup in the lungs. We request that the panel of judges give the opportunity for independent medical examinations,” he said.
