Health readiness of Hajj pilgrims to be monitored from pre-departure
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) is preparing a health coaching system that allows the condition of prospective Hajj pilgrims to be monitored periodically from one year before departure, as part of strengthening the implementation of health readiness (istithaah).
“Hajj health services begin with coaching within the country. Therefore, we continue to strengthen collaboration so that pilgrims are truly medically ready to perform the Hajj pilgrimage,” said Head of the Kemenhaj Hajj Health Centre, Dani Pramudya, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Dani stated that continuous health monitoring aims to detect and control various risk factors from an early stage, so that pilgrims have better physical readiness when performing the pilgrimage in the Holy Land.
This effort is part of the transformation of Hajj health services, which is being reinforced through cross-sector collaboration. During an audience with the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Health Centre, Kemenhaj discussed strengthening health coaching for pilgrims, implementing health readiness, and fulfilling competent health human resources.
The meeting also addressed the handling of pilgrims with high health risks, such as those suffering from heart disease, severe hypertension, and kidney failure.
In addition, both parties discussed strengthening coaching through health manasik (rites) so that pilgrims better understand the importance of maintaining fitness, controlling comorbidities, and preparing themselves for conditions in the Holy Land.
The TNI Health Centre also proposed strengthening cooperation with regional health offices and optimising health services in hospitals through partnership networks.
“We welcome the various inputs from the TNI Health Centre. This synergy is a strategic step to build a more integrated Hajj health system, from coaching and health checks to services during the Hajj pilgrimage,” said Dani.
