Health project to get aid

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: The United States government will provide, in the 1997/1998 fiscal year, assistance to a health project aimed at lowering the maternal mortality rate here, Antara reported last week.

To be arranged through the Mothercare-USAID office in Jakarta, the assistance will involve the training of midwives posted in remote areas. The office will also help establish integrated health centers in several regions, including Barito Kuala, Banjar and Hulu Sungai Selatan.

The agency did not mention the amount of funds involved in the training assistance. (swe)
