Health Ministry targets upgrade of 66 Type D hospitals to Type C status by 2027

The Ministry of Health is targeting the completion of upgrading the status of 66 Type D hospitals to Type C by the end of 2027. The programme is being implemented to expand access to specialist services and enhance the quality of healthcare for the public, especially in remote regions. Deputy Minister of Health Benjamin Paulus Octavianus stated that the strengthening of hospitals is focused on handling stroke, heart disease, and cancer. The majority of the hospitals being upgraded are located in the Papua region.
