Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, continues receiving treatment at the National Hospital Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) following an acid attack. The Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has confirmed that all of Andrie’s treatment costs will be fully covered.

“Yes, he is being treated at RSCM and we will cover all costs,” said Widyawati, Health Ministry Spokesperson, on Tuesday (17/3/2026).

RSCM previously disclosed Andrie Yunus’s current condition. The hospital reported that Andrie’s condition has stabilised and is not life-threatening.

“The patient’s general condition is currently stable and not life-threatening,” RSCM stated on Tuesday (17/3).

RSCM confirmed that medical treatment will continue in stages, including potential tissue reconstruction procedures to help optimise the restoration of vision function.

RSCM indicated that Andrie was first treated on Friday (13/03) in the early morning hours around midnight. At that time, Andrie reported burn injuries on his face, neck, chest, back, and both arms, accompanied by vision impairment in his right eye.

RSCM conducted an initial examination, which identified exposure to acidic chemical substances in the wound areas.

RSCM revealed that Andrie suffered approximately 20% burns. Chemical trauma to the right eye was also detected with severe grade three severity in the acute phase, resulting in vision loss.

RSCM has performed tissue debridement on the right eye and amnion membrane transplantation, aimed at protecting the eye surface and supporting the healing process.

“To address this condition, the patient has undergone tissue cleaning and removal procedures on the right eye as well as amnion membrane transplantation to protect the eye surface and support healing,” RSCM stated.

Andrie is now being treated in the High Care Unit (HCU) to receive intensive care from the medical team. Therapy includes wound care, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications, vitamins, and treatment.

Investigation to be Concluded
