Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has confirmed that there are currently no plans for the government to increase BPJS Kesehatan premiums. He made the statement during a press conference on the 2027 State Budget Plan and Financial Note at the Directorate General of Taxes office in Jakarta on Friday (14/8/2026). “There are no plans yet to increase BPJS rates. And you don’t need to worry,” he said. “If BPJS runs a deficit, the central government will definitely provide support,” the Health Minister added. As is known, the government is planning a new BPJS Kesehatan contribution scheme through the Standard Inpatient Class (KRIS) system. The Minister previously explained that KRIS is designed with a fixed cost structure so as not to burden participants. “BPJS KRIS should be implemented starting this year, but it will be gradual over two years,” Budi said in a statement some time ago, quoted on Sunday (2/8/2026). “The rates have not been determined yet, but there should be no changes because it is designed at the same price,” he added.
