Health Minister Reveals Taufik Hidayat's Confinement Victim to Undergo Facial Reconstruction
Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has confirmed that the victim of confinement and abuse, identified by the initials YTR, will receive full medical treatment, including facial reconstruction. The victim is currently undergoing intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung.
“Firstly, the person concerned will receive complete treatment at RS Hasan Sadikin because there is much to be done, including rehabilitation and facial reconstruction,” he said, as quoted from the TvOne News YouTube channel on Thursday, 25 June 2026.
Regarding the cost of the victim’s treatment at RSHS Bandung, the Health Minister stated that all expenses would be covered by the regional government. In addition, the victim will receive social protection facilitated by the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPA).
“From the economic side, we have agreed that it will be covered by the regional government. She also needs social protection, and we have discussed this. The Ministry of PPA will assist later. We will take care of it,” he said.
For context, a woman from Rancaekek, Bandung Regency, West Java, is believed to be a victim of confinement and abuse by her boyfriend. The woman, identified by the initials YTR, was allegedly held captive by the suspect, identified by the initials Taufik Hidayat, in a rented room and was reported missing by her family for three years.
After the victim introduced her boyfriend to her parents, the family lost contact with YTR for years. She was eventually found in a heartbreaking condition with severe injuries resulting from the alleged confinement and abuse.
Taufik Hidayat, the suspect in the confinement and abuse case, was arrested by a joint team from the West Java Regional Police on Tuesday evening, 23 June 2026. West Java Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Setiawan, revealed that the suspect was arrested at a housing complex in Ciparay District, Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday evening at around 6.30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time.
“Thanks to everyone’s prayers, at 6.30 p.m. in Ciparay District, at the Griya Pesona housing complex, we finally managed to locate the suspect and immediately made the arrest,” he said, as quoted from a TvOne News YouTube broadcast on Wednesday, 24 June 2026.
Rudi explained that before being taken to the West Java Regional Police Headquarters, the suspect was first secured at the Majalaya Police Station.
