Health Minister Requests Professional Discipline Council to Audit Treatment of Deceased Intern Dr Myta

JAKARTA - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has requested the Professional Discipline Council (MDP) to conduct a medical audit on the treatment of Myta Aprilia Azmy, an intern doctor and graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri). “A medical audit of the actions taken towards the deceased. Were the procedures correct? Was the diagnosis correct? Was the medication administration correct? This will be carried out by the Professional Discipline Council, which is expected to be completed within a week,” Budi stated at the Ministry of Health office in South Jakarta on Thursday (7/6/2026). However, at that time, Myta was only receiving self-care and was still on duty in the emergency department. “So next week, I should ask the Indonesian Health Council and the Professional Discipline Council to hold another press conference to convey the conclusions of the medical audit results,” Budi explained. “Yes, if during the audit there are any professional violations, the MDP will provide recommendations, and the Indonesian Health Council will act according to what is determined by the MDP,” said Yuli. It is known that Dr Myta was undergoing an internship programme at RSUD KH Daud Arif in Kuala Tungkal, Jambi, since August last year. Myta had undergone a medical check-up (MCU) before starting the internship, and the laboratory examination results indicated her condition was normal, meaning healthy. On 27 April 2026, Myta was rushed to RSUP Dr Mohammad Hoesin in Palembang and treated in the infectious isolation room before being moved to the ICU due to her increasingly severe breathing condition. After undergoing intensive care for several days, Myta was declared deceased on 1 May 2026 due to a severe lung condition.
