Health center roof crumbles

TANGERANG: The roof of a public health center (puskesmas) in Panongan district, Tangerang came down on Thursday afternoon. No one was injured in the incident.

"Since 2002, we have repeatedly asked the Tangerang administration to renovate the building, and the regency health agency has sent officials to check the building, but there was no follow-up," she told The Jakarta Post on Friday.

She said the health center has not been renovated since it was built in 1986.

"The building's terrible condition had long worried employees and patients," she said.

Tangerang Regent Ismet Iskandar, who visited the dilapidated facility on Friday, promised to build a new one near the Panongan district administration office. --JP
