Headteacher Says MPLS at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Returns to Normal After Bomb Threat

The School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi in South Jakarta has returned to normal following a bomb threat. Headteacher Kamtono confirmed that the school is now safe. “Yes, from today, the second day of MPLS is running smoothly. Earlier, we held a joint exercise, and then, alhamdulillah, we were visited by the Minister of Education, from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education,” Kamtono told reporters at the location on Tuesday (14/7/2026). Kamtono said the school has scheduled trauma healing and education sessions for parents and teachers. The school is cooperating with the Metro Jaya Regional Police and the Indonesian Psychological Association (Himpsi) in this effort. “So this is about healing yesterday’s wounds. The incident yesterday had consequences; perhaps there is trauma in the children’s hearts, maybe also in the parents, and perhaps the teachers as well. We are trying to return things to normal,” he explained. Kamtono acknowledged that many teachers panicked and were anxious during the bomb threat. Therefore, every anticipatory measure is being taken to ensure no further threats occur at the school. “As for the teachers, because they were in front of me, I know a bit. Yes, they were somewhat anxious. But we, as teachers, must minimise this incident and ensure it does not happen again at other schools. It is a pity for the children, at a time when they are having their MPLS, their introduction period, before they even get to know each other, it was delayed,” he added. He continued that several students, especially those approaching adolescence, were aware of the bomb threat at their school. He has requested assistance from the psychology team to heal their trauma. The suspect, a man with the initials MY (34), has been arrested. “One perpetrator, with the initials MY, whose address is near the school location, has been secured,” said Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto. The police revealed that MY is the parent of a student at the school. “After the perpetrator was secured, it turned out his child also attends that school,” said Metro Jaya Police Director of Criminal Investigation, Senior Commissioner Iman Imannudin. Iman said the perpetrator had picked up his child after sending the threatening message. Students at the school were dismissed and sent home following the bomb threat.
