A traffic accident involving two Transjakarta bus units occurred on the elevated Corridor 13 route, commonly known as the “Sky Route,” near Cipulir Station in South Jakarta on Monday morning (23 February).

The incident took place as both buses were travelling along the dedicated Transjakarta busway.

In circulating video footage, both vehicles sustained considerable damage to their front sections. The collision is believed to have been a head-on crash, with the buses striking each other from opposite directions.

Transjakarta’s Head of Public Relations and CSR, Ayu Wardhani, said the accident involved operator fleet buses BMP 263 and MYS 17100 on Corridor 13, on the Swadarma section heading towards Cipulir.

“Transjakarta sincerely apologises for the accident involving operator fleet buses BMP 263 and MYS 17100 on Corridor 13 (Swadarma section towards Cipulir) this morning. Our primary focus at this time is ensuring passenger safety,” she said in a written statement on Monday (23 February).

The impact left a number of passengers with injuries. They are believed to have been hurt by glass shards that shattered during the incident.

The victims received first aid at the scene, while other passengers were evacuated to ensure their safety.

According to Wardhani, officers immediately responded at the location, including securing the area and reorganising Corridor 13 operations to prevent a build-up of buses.

The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation. Transjakarta has urged all passengers to exercise caution and follow crew instructions to ensure safety during their journeys.
