Head of Traffic Police Receives Audience from Jambi Online Taxi Drivers, Encouraging the Formation of National Online Taxi Driver Association
The audience took place at the NTMC Building of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps on Monday (18/5/2026). Addressing the representatives of the online taxi drivers (ojol), Inspector General Agus stated that he is carrying out the National Police Chief’s mission to transform the police force into a service-oriented, friendly institution that actively builds communication with the public.
He noted that current traffic management approaches are no longer solely focused on law enforcement, but rather prioritise a heart-based approach and safety education. “As the Head of the Traffic Corps, I am not proud of merely enforcing the law. Instead, we are proud when we are close to the community, embracing the public, and ensuring public compliance for the sake of safety,” said Inspector General Agus.
He explained that the ‘Polantas Menyapa’ (Traffic Police Greets) programme is one of the steps taken to strengthen the relationship between the police and automotive communities, including online taxi drivers in various regions. Inspector General Agus admitted to having conducted visits to several regions, including Medan, Bali, East Java, Central Java, West Java, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, and Jambi, to listen directly to the aspirations of drivers.
On this occasion, the Head of the Traffic Corps also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Jambi online taxi driver community, who travelled directly to the National Police Traffic Corps. He remarked that the spirit and unity of the Jambi drivers serve as a positive example for other regions in building solid organisations.
Dianton, an advisor to the Jambi Online Taxi Driver Anti-Robbery Special Team (Tekab), stated that their visit was an expression of appreciation for the ‘Korlantas Menyapa’ programme, which is seen as having a positive impact on drivers in the regions. “Alhamdulillah, today we have had discussions directly with the Head of the Traffic Corps. With the ‘Korlantas Menyapa’ programme reaching online taxi drivers across Indonesia, it has had a very significant and positive impact in Jambi Province,” said Anton.
He added that the closeness established between the police and online taxi drivers makes the drivers feel more cared for, providing new motivation for those working daily to support their families. During the audience, the Jambi online taxi driver community also proposed the formation of a national organisation named ‘Ojol Nusantara’ to serve as a platform for unity for online taxi drivers throughout Indonesia. Dianton expressed hope that this organisation could strengthen solidarity and communication among drivers in various regions.
“With great humility, we hope that the National Police Chief will become the Patron of Ojol Nusantara, and the Head of the Traffic Corps as his deputy,” he said.
The audience was held in a warm and familial atmosphere. The representatives from the Jambi community expressed their gratitude for being received directly by the Head of the Traffic Corps after a two-day journey from Jambi to Jakarta.
