Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Polisi Agus Suryonugroho, revealed several security focuses for Operation Ketupat 2026, or the 2026 Lebaran homecoming security operation.

“In preparation for Operation Ketupat, we are, of course, preparing for the dynamics of traffic on toll roads,” he said in Jakarta on Thursday.

Agus said that for toll roads, a significant increase in traffic flow is expected, so it must be managed properly.

“The projection is that 3.6 million vehicles will use the toll roads leading to the Trans-Java and Trans-Sumatra toll roads,” he said.

To manage congestion on toll roads, he added, the Traffic Corps will collaborate with relevant stakeholders.

“We have prepared scenarios for traffic management, including diversions and security measures. There will be contraflow and one-way systems, as well as the use of functional toll roads, such as the Jakarta-Cikampek South and Jakarta-Cikampek II toll roads, for return traffic and some functional toll roads,” he said.

The next focus is on arterial roads and the Merak-Bakauheni and Ketapang ferry ports.

Finally, the security focus of the operation is on places of worship and tourist attractions. He said that the Traffic Corps has identified the locations of places of worship and roads leading to tourist attractions.

The two-star general said that Operation Ketupat 2026 is expected to take place from 13th March to 26th March 2026.

However, he said he could not yet explain the details. “The details will be announced by the National Police Headquarters, by the Head of Operations, so that the government’s policy on working from anywhere is clear,” he said.
