Head of Traffic Corps and Stakeholders Finalise Strategies for Securing the Homecoming Traffic Flow in Merak-Bakauheni
The Head of the Indonesian National Police’s Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, together with stakeholders, inspected the readiness for securing the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return traffic flows on the main crossing route between Java and Sumatra. After the inspection, Inspector General Agus led an inter-sectoral coordination meeting to finalise preparations ahead of Operation Ketupat 2026.
This inter-sectoral coordination meeting was held at the Sasoro Building, Merak Port, Banten, on Thursday, 26 February 2026. During the meeting, Inspector General Agus received technical presentations on security and traffic management from the Chief of Traffic Police of Banten and the Chief of Traffic Police of Lampung. Other related stakeholders also presented their readiness.
The meeting was attended by stakeholders including the Director of ASPD, Heru Widodo, the Director of Jasa Raharja, Muhammad Awaluddin, the Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), Wilan Oktavian, the Director of SPASDP at the Ministry of Transportation, Sigit Widodo, the Director of Traffic and Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Rudi Irawan, the Main Expert Staff of KSP Bhinneka Putra Linanta, and the Head of the Transportation Policy Agency at the Ministry of Transportation, Hermanta. Officials from the BMKG, Basarnas and others were also present.
Accompanying the Head of Traffic Corps were, among others, the Director of Vehicle Registration of the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Wibowo, the Director of Law Enforcement of the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Faizal, and the Head of the Operations Section of the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, Commissioner Aries Syahbudin.
After receiving presentations from the Chiefs of Traffic Police and the stakeholders, Inspector General Agus appreciated all the preparations that had been carried out. However, he reminded everyone to remain vigilant and not be complacent. He emphasised the importance of updating data and strategies in the field before the peak of the homecoming traffic arrives.
“The reports presented by the Chiefs of Traffic Police and all the stakeholders, I am sure, indicate that they are ready,” said Inspector General Agus.
However, he asked everyone to continue updating their action plans because in the near future, there will be a direct inspection from the central leadership level, including by the Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. This is because President Prabowo Subianto really wants everyone to work to the maximum with synergy and collaboration to provide the best service to the public during the homecoming and return traffic flows during Eid al-Fitr.
“So, don’t be satisfied with what has been prepared today, even though almost everything is complete, but the latest update may still be needed in about a week, when there will be a visit from the centre, the Minister and the Chief of Police here,” said the Head of Traffic Corps.
Inspector General Agus also said in this meeting that Operation Ketupat 2026 carries the tagline ‘Safe Homecoming, Happy Family’. This tagline reflects the commitment of the Indonesian National Police together with all stakeholders to provide a safe, comfortable and secure homecoming journey.
