Head of the SPPG Unit in Lampung Arrested After Abusing a Primary School Pupil, How Is the MBG Service?

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Deputy Head of the BGN, Nanik S. Deyang, has confirmed that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in Lampung Timur is continuing normally after the arrest of the head of the SPPG over alleged acts of sexual abuse against a primary school pupil. Deyang said that MBG distribution has returned to normal following the appointment of a temporary replacement for the head of the SPPG, who is in custody. ‘The MBG service in Lampung Timur continues to operate normally after the appointment of a replacement in the position of Head of SPPG,’ he said in a press statement on Friday (6 March 2026). ‘This is a serious concern because it contravenes the values of integrity and moral responsibility that should be possessed by every public programme official.’ BGN will fully support the legal process with a view to justice for the victim. Furthermore, Deyang added that BGN will conduct internal evaluations of the recruitment and oversight mechanisms for staff involved in the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units in various regions. ‘This incident should serve as a catalyst for us to strengthen the selection, training, and supervision of all programme implementers on the ground so that integrity, morality, and professionalism are maintained,’ he emphasised. The Purbolinggo Police Station chief, AKP Irwan Susanto, said the offender, identified as DD (29), has been detained at the police station. ‘Yes, he admitted working as the head of the SPPG. The perpetrator has been detained after being arrested on Tuesday,’ Irwan told reporters on Thursday (5 March 2026). Irwan said the victim was taken to a paddy-field area by the offender and abused. The victim was found by locals in a state of severe trauma.
