Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the National Police’s Security Maintenance Agency (Kabaharkam), Inspector General Pol. Karyoto, officially opened the VI National Congress of the Indonesian Police Extended Family (KBPP Polri) in Jakarta on Friday, hoping that this partner organisation of the police would maintain its solidarity and be beneficial to society.

“If it’s solid but not beneficial, it’s useless. The important thing is that if it’s truly solid, demonstrate that solidarity in line with the organisation’s principles of independence, kinship, and social community,” said Karyoto.

In addition, as the Chairman of the KBPP Polri Advisory Board, Karyoto also advised KBPP Polri to participate in national development by supporting the Astacita vision and providing benefits to society.

The former Metro Jaya Police Chief attended to represent the National Police Chief in opening the VI National Congress of KBPP Polri, whose main agenda is to elect the general chairman for the 2026-2031 period.

According to him, KBPP Polri has a strategic role in supporting the National Police’s mission to protect and nurture society because its membership far exceeds that of police personnel.

He also reminded KBPP Polri members to maintain their conduct and uphold the good name of the National Police institution, serving as a bridge to bring the police closer to society.

“Don’t create disturbances; instead, create beneficial programmes that help government programmes,” said Karyoto.

Previously, during an audience on Tuesday (12/5) with National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chairman of the KBPP Polri Advisory Board provided guidance for the VI National Congress of KBPP Polri to proceed safely, orderly, smoothly, and conducive, while maintaining organisational solidarity as part of the extended National Police family.

The leader of the Bhayangkara Corps also hopes that in the future, KBPP Polri will further strengthen its role as a strategic partner to the National Police in supporting community tasks and maintaining societal security and order stability (kamtibmas).

Evita explained that to date, she has received support letters from 31 Regional Administrations (PD) of KBPP Polri out of a total of 34 PDs across Indonesia.

“The VI National Congress of KBPP Polri must become a momentum for organisational consolidation and strengthening KBPP Polri’s role as a solid, strong, modern, and authoritative organisation,” said Evita.

KBPP Polri is the sole organisation established based on the National Police Chief’s Secret Telegram (TR) of 2001 as a forum for the sons and daughters of the police to strengthen dedication to society, the nation, and the state.

Attending the VI National Congress of KBPP Polri were members of Commission III of the DPR, Adang Daradjatun, as Chairman of the KBPP Polri Honour Board, and Commission member Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet).

The election of the KBPP Polri General Chairman for the 2026-2031 period took place on Friday evening, attended by KBPP Polri administrators from 34 provinces who hold voting rights.
