Head of National Nutrition Agency Requests Attorney General to Deploy Prosecutors to BGN
Dadan Hindayana, Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), has requested the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) to deploy an echelon II-level official to join BGN and oversee the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG).
Dadan stated that prosecutors from the Attorney General’s Office would be positioned as an Inspectorate within BGN’s central office. He did not provide specific details regarding which prosecutor would be assigned to the BGN oversight function.
“I have requested that there be a component from the Attorney General’s Office that we will assign to become one of the officials at the National Nutrition Agency,” he told reporters at the Attorney General’s Office on Tuesday (17 March).
Dadan noted that the request was conveyed directly to Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin and Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence Reda Manthovani during today’s meeting.
Dadan also requested that the Attorney General’s Office participate in overseeing the Free Nutritious Meals Programme. For instance, regarding budget absorption in various regions.
“We discussed additional supervision mechanisms so that components of the Attorney General’s Office and the Attorney General’s prosecutors in villages can also oversee budget usage in school feeding programmes across Indonesia,” he said.
Dadan emphasised that the cooperation between BGN and the Attorney General’s Office is not directed towards criminal investigation processes. Rather, it is a preventive effort to avoid irregularities in the Prabowo-Gibran administration’s priority programme.
“Not [towards criminal prosecution], it is for prevention. Yes, for prevention. We are leaning more towards prevention. So that everyone or all partners work as optimally and as carefully as possible,” he said.
