Head of National Nutrition Agency Replaced, Palace Ensures Free Nutritious Meal Programme Remains Smooth

The Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, has emphasised that the change in leadership at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is intended to strengthen the delivery of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. The Palace guarantees that this leadership transition will not disrupt the government’s commitment to executing this priority programme.

President Prabowo Subianto has officially appointed Nani S. Deyang as the new Head of BGN, replacing Dadan Hindayana. Additionally, the President has appointed Agustina Arumsari and Major General TNI Trenggono as Deputy Heads of BGN, replacing Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sanjaya.

“The government reiterates that this change in leadership will not interfere with our commitment to running the MBG programme implemented by the BGN,” stated Prasetyo Hadi, as reported by Antara on Tuesday.

Prasetyo explained that the decision was made after the President conducted in-depth monitoring and evaluation of the BGN’s performance over nearly 1.5 years. This evaluation incorporated feedback from various stakeholders, including relevant ministries and the intended beneficiaries.

As a strategic institution, the BGN is required to maintain robust governance and effective cross-sector coordination. The new leadership is expected to ensure that the programme is well-targeted, timely, and accountable, ultimately aiming to improve the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.

“The President continues to monitor and ultimately evaluate the performance of the entire cabinet, including the BGN,” added Prasetyo.

The government expressed its appreciation for the dedication of Dadan Hindayana and the previous leadership team for establishing the agency’s foundation. The new leadership has been tasked with immediate internal consolidation and strengthening synergy with regional governments at the provincial and district/city levels.

The State Secretary emphasised that throughout this transition, all work units within the BGN must continue their duties as usual, ensuring that public services remain entirely uninterrupted.
