Head of National Nutrition Agency Nanik S. Deyang Holds Close Ties with Prabowo
President Prabowo Subianto has appointed Nanik Sudaryati Deyang as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), replacing Dadan Hindayana. The Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, explained that the decision to change the leadership of the BGN was based on a performance evaluation conducted over the last 1.5 years.
Prasetyo explained that the President routinely monitors and evaluates the performance of the entire Red and White Cabinet, including the National Nutrition Agency, which manages Prabowo’s flagship project—the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. During this evaluation process, the Head of State received input from various parties, including ministries and the public as the beneficiaries of the MBG project.
“The President has decided to appoint Ms Nanik S. Deyang as the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency,” Prastyo stated at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
Nanik will be accompanied by two deputies, namely Agustina Arumsari and Major General TNI Trenggono. With this decision, Dadan Hindayana will no longer hold the position of Head of the BGN. Additionally, Inspector General (Ret.) Sony Sanjaya and Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Lodewyk Pusung will also vacate their leadership positions within the agency.
Prasetyo Hadi requested that the three new leaders of the National Nutrition Agency immediately undertake internal consolidation and strengthen cross-ministerial and cross-agency coordination. He also emphasised the need to strengthen coordination with regional governments, at both provincial and regency/city levels, to ensure all BGN programmes continue to run optimally.
The government hopes that the new BGN leadership can accelerate the implementation of Prabowo’s priority programmes, improve performance, enhance organisational governance, and deliver tangible benefits to the public, particularly in efforts to improve nutrition, health, and Indonesia’s human resources.
Nanik S. Deyang’s Track Record
It is noted that Nanik Sudaryati Deyang was previously appointed as the Deputy Head of the BGN and was simultaneously removed from her position as the First Deputy of the Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency on 17 September 2025. Born on 3 January 1968 in Madiun, East Java, her career began as a journalist at Tabloid Bangkit, part of the Kompas Gramedia media group. She also served as a media leader within the Peluang Media Group (KMP).
Nanik has held several significant positions, including General Manager of the special magazine ‘Femme’, President Director of the women’s tabloid ‘Info Kecantikan’, and Commissioner for the tabloids ‘Info Kulint’, the business-economic tabloid ‘Peluang Usaha’, and the general tabloid ‘The Politic’.
In the political arena, Nanik is believed to have close ties to Prabowo Subianto. During the 2019 presidential election, Nanik served as the Vice Chair of the National Victory Body of the Adil Makmur Coalition—the political party coalition that supported Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno. This relationship persisted until October 2024, when Prabowo officially assumed power. On 22 October 2024, Nanik was inaugurated as the First Deputy of the Poverty Alleviation Agency for the 2024-2029 period.
Furthermore, Nanik has served as an Independent Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero) since Thursday, 12 June 2025. Her appointment as an independent commissioner was based on the Decree of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises as the Series A Dwiwarna Shareholder of PT Pertamina. Her name previously drew public attention when she was involved as a witness in the 2018 Ratna Sarumpaet hoax case in Bandung.
