JAKARTA - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, has clarified the purchase of socks that was reported to be included in the budget procurement for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

Dadan stated that BGN did not conduct the procurement directly.

According to him, the socks are part of the equipment provided during the Bachelor of Indonesian Development Drivers (SPPI) education.

“For the socks, that is not a procurement by BGN. They are provided during the SPPI education as part of the participants’ equipment, organised by the National Defence University,” said Dadan in an official statement received on Monday (13/4/2026).

In that scheme, said Dadan, from the implementation of the activities, including the procurement of equipment, it is carried out by Unhan.

“So, it needs to be understood that the procurement is not carried out directly by BGN, but by Unhan in the context of implementing the SPPI education,” he explained.

Dadan assured that every use of state budget in the BGN environment has gone through planning, budgeting, and supervision mechanisms in accordance with applicable provisions and legislation.

“We urge the public not to be easily provoked and to trust unverified information, and to refer to official sources,” he said.

Dadan emphasised that BGN will uphold the principles of efficiency, transparency, and accountability, and is open to supervision from both internal and external parties in every budget management.
