The State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, has announced the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s decision regarding the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). He explained that the BGN holds a strategic role in supporting the improvement of public nutritional quality. He added that the role demands strong commitment, effective cross-sector coordination, and leadership capable of ensuring all programmes are precisely targeted, timely, and adhere to principles of accountability.

In managing daily duties, Prasetyo stated that the President continuously monitors and evaluates the performance of the entire cabinet, particularly the leadership of the BGN. He noted that leaders of the BGN responsible for executing the President’s primary programmes may be replaced based on these evaluations. “The President continues to monitor and ultimately evaluate the performance of the entire cabinet, including the performance of the National Nutrition Agency,” he said in the Cabinet Meeting Room at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday night.

According to Prasetylar, the President listens to input from various parties, including relevant ministries and the public, including beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme managed by the BGN. In relation to this, after approximately 1.5 years, the President decided on a change in the top leadership of the BGN. President Prabowo has replaced Dadan Hindayana as the Head of the BGN. Additionally, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Lodewijk Pusung and Inspector General (Ret.) Sony Sandjaya have also been removed from their positions as Deputy Heads of the BGN.

“This is accompanied by expressions of gratitude for their hard work and dedication in building the foundation of the National Nutrition Agency. Subsequently, the President has decided to appoint Ms Nanik S. Dayang as the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency,” said Prasetyo. He continued that the President also inaugurated Agustina Arumsari and Major General Trenggono as the new Deputy Heads of the BGN. “We hope that the three new leaders of the National Nutrition Agency can immediately undertake internal consolidation, strengthen the institution, and enhance coordination with regional governments, both at the provincial and regency/city levels.”

He also urged the three new BGN leaders to ensure that all Free Nutritious Meal programmes continue to run optimally. Prasetyo acknowledged that various considerations influenced the President’s decision to change the agency’s leadership. “We all hope that the new leadership can swiftly execute priority programmes, improve performance, enhance organisational governance, and deliver real benefits to the community, particularly regarding the improvement of the nutritional quality of the Indonesian people,” he explained.
