Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, is committed to enhancing the standards of Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives, which call for continuous improvements in the quality of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) implementation. “The President’s special message on Eid al-Fitr urges BGN to improve the quality of SPPG operations and services. Inadequate SPPG units should be temporarily closed, with immediate repairs and quality enhancements carried out,” Dadan stated in Jakarta on Wednesday. As a follow-up to this message, BGN has promptly formed a special unit tasked with monitoring the certification process across all SPPG units. In the initial phase, supervision focuses on three key certifications: the Hygiene and Sanitation Fitness Certificate (SLHS), halal certification, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification, which form the primary foundation for ensuring food safety, cleanliness, and quality. “Once these three certifications are met, we will advance to certifications related to SPPG human resource quality, including chefs, food handlers, and environmental analysis,” Dadan said. Furthermore, Dadan emphasised the importance of complete certifications as a benchmark for determining SPPG classification or grading. This system is expected to establish measurable quality standards while promoting sustainable improvements in service quality. In the interim, before the establishment of a national SPPG accreditation institution, BGN will form an internal SPPG classification team to assess and prepare for a more structured and integrated accreditation system in the future. These steps are regarded as part of BGN’s strategic efforts to ensure the nutrition fulfilment programme runs optimally, safely, and in accordance with national and international standards. “Before the SPPG accreditation institution is formed, BGN will specifically establish an internal SPPG classification team and systematically prepare for external accreditation institutions,” he added.
