Head of Maluku Police Integrated Service Unit Removed Over Alleged Extortion Case

The head of the Integrated Police Service (SPKT) at Maluku Regional Police, Kompol S, has been removed from his position. The dismissal stems from an alleged extortion case against entrepreneur Hartini amounting to Rp500 million. Kompol S has been reassigned to the Public Services Division (Yanma). On Tuesday (21/4), Kompol S underwent intensive examination at the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) building of Maluku Regional Police starting around 3:00 PM WIT. Kompol S arrived at the Ditreskrimum building wearing a black checkered shirt and proceeded directly to the Subdit 2 investigators’ room on the second floor for questioning. Kompol S was examined in connection with a police report regarding extortion by four police officers filed by Hartini at the SPKT several weeks ago. In addition to Kompol S, Bripka Eric and Bripka Irvan were also questioned. They were examined following Hartini’s police report at Maluku Regional Police SPKT regarding the alleged extortion. Previously, four members of Maluku Regional Police were reported to the Propam of Maluku Regional Police over the alleged extortion of entrepreneur Hartini. Hartini reported alleged fraud related to a cyanide purchase worth Rp8.2 billion and extortion by police officers. The report was filed by Hartini along with her legal representative at Maluku Regional Police Headquarters in Ambon on Monday (6/4). The four police officers reported for alleged extortion are SPKT Head Kompol S, Maluku Regional Police members Bripka ER and Bripka I, and Yos Sudarso Harbour Police Chief in Ambon, AKP REL. Meanwhile, when met at the Ditreskrimum building of Maluku Regional Police, Kompol S denied the extortion allegations that led to his dismissal. He expressed dissatisfaction, stating he was never involved in the extortion case and had become a victim of the removal. Kompol S said he received the telegram letter (TR) regarding his dismissal from the SPKT head position while undergoing intensive examination at the Ditreskrimum building of Maluku Regional Police. “Yes, I have been transferred because of my meeting with Mr Steven; I have been moved to Yanma,” said Kompol S when met by CNNIndonesia.com on Tuesday (21/4). He said that during the examination in the Propam division, they questioned his involvement in assisting the extortion effort by obtaining the contact number of Harbour Police Chief AKP REL. However, he claimed he only helped by finding the contact number because he was asked by an anti-corruption organisation leader named Steven Samuel. After obtaining the Harbour Police Chief’s contact number, he then sent it to Steven. “I am disappointed; they say I assisted, which is why I was probably transferred, even though I have explained that I only sent the Harbour Police Chief’s contact number because Mr Steven asked for it,” he said. He then urged the Maluku Regional Police investigators to immediately summon Harbour Police Chief AKP REL for questioning. This is because the extortion money is suspected to have flowed into his personal pocket. “Don’t just make me the victim; also summon Harbour Police Chief AKP REL, and several TNI members who escorted Mr Steven’s subordinates to meet the Harbour Police Chief, so that it’s fair,” he said. Meanwhile, Anti-Corruption Organisation Leader Steven Samuel claimed that Hartini had sought his help regarding 300 cans of cyanide held at Ambon port. He claimed Hartini said the hundreds of cyanide cans were to be immediately sent to Namlea, Buru Regency, because the buyer was waiting. “So at that time, Hartini called asking for help because the cyanide was held in Ambon; I tried to help because as far as I know, the goods were legal with complete shipping documents,” he said when confirmed on Tuesday. To confirm whether the goods were illegal or legal, he then called Kompol S regarding Hartini’s 300 cans of cyanide held at Yos Sudarso Port in Ambon. Steven then asked Kompol S for help in finding the contact number of Harbour Police Chief AKP REL. After obtaining the contact number, Steven then sent his subordinate to meet AKP REL. “So I only asked Kompol S for help to find the Harbour Police Chief’s contact number; regarding the rest, Kompol S was not involved,” he said.
