Head of Kepri and Batam Immigration Dismissed After Proven Foreign Extortion Case
Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services (Menimipas) General (Ret.) Agus Andrianto has revealed that Hajar Aswad, Head of the Class I Special Immigration Office at Batam International Port, has been sanctioned with dismissal. Hajar was implicated in a case of alleged illegal levy practices (pungli) against foreign nationals (WNA) at the Batam Centre International Port. This was stated by Agus after attending a free health check-up and social assistance event for two thousand residents of the Cibinong area at the Pondok Rajeg Heroes Cemetery Grounds in Cibinong, Bogor Regency, on Wednesday (8/4/2026). “He will be removed by Mr Director General (of Immigration),” said Agus to the media. Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services, Hendarsam Marantoko, who was present at the same event, also confirmed the dismissal. He stated that the dismissal is only awaiting the completion of administrative matters. “Just administration. Just administration. Two days of administration, done,” Hendarsam told Republika.
