The head of one of the Islamic boarding schools (ponpes) in Praya Timur District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), with the initials MTF, allegedly raped a female student by claiming he was ‘purifying her womb’ and promising spiritual knowledge and blessings. This was revealed by the victim’s advocate, Joko Jumadi.

“[He claimed it was to] purify her womb, gain blessed knowledge, spiritual knowledge, and have righteous offspring,” said Joko, who is also the Chairman of the Child Protection Agency (LPA) of Mataram City, on Wednesday (25/2/2026).

Joko revealed that the rape occurred in 2025. The perpetrator carried out his actions by deceiving the victim, exploiting his position as the head of the Islamic boarding school.

“The perpetrator also exploited the victim’s vulnerability,” said Joko.

The victim, who reported the incident to the NTB Police, is still a student at the Islamic boarding school. MTF satisfied his lust in a special room within the Islamic boarding school. The victim was allegedly subjected to sexual intercourse four times.

“Four times (the perpetrator raped the student). (The incidents) occurred at the Islamic boarding school. There was a special room,” he said.

Previously, Joko Jumadi stated that MTF had been named a suspect by investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of Women and Children Protection and Anti-Human Trafficking (Ditres PPA and PPO) of the NTB Police.

“We received direct information about the suspect’s designation from the investigators,” Joko told detikBali on Tuesday (24/2/2026).

MTF was supposed to be questioned by investigators as a suspect on Tuesday (24/2/2024). However, he did not attend, citing illness. Furthermore, Joko said that he received information that MTF visited the victim’s family. The purpose was to persuade the victim to withdraw her report.

“He tried to influence the victim’s family. This is part of intimidation. That’s why we are also tracing who issued the sick note,” he said.

As a suspect, MTF is charged under Article 6, paragraph c, of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Crimes of Sexual Violence (TPKS).

“There is one official victim who reported the incident; she is still a student. There are other victims, but they are being treated as witnesses,” he said.

DetikBali attempted to confirm the suspect’s designation with the Director of PPA and PPO of the NTB Police, Kombes Ni Made Pujewati. However, she has not yet responded.
