The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) is in mourning. KPAI Chairwoman Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah has passed away today.

“To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return. Today we have lost a leader, a mother, and an exemplary figure who has meant so much to us at the Indonesian Child Protection Commission,” KPAI wrote on its official Instagram account on Sunday, 1 March 2026.

KPAI stated that Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah was a resolute figure in protecting Indonesian children. The commission prayed that the deceased would be granted the best place in God’s presence.

“Mrs Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah was not merely a Chairwoman, but a figure of steadfast conviction, gentleness, and unwavering commitment to the protection of Indonesian children. Her dedication, care, and counsel will always live on in every step we take. Thank you for the service and love you gave to the children of this nation,” KPAI wrote.

Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah served as KPAI Chairwoman for the 2022-2027 term. She was an alumna of IAIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. Margaret completed her Master’s degree in women’s studies at the University of Indonesia and was pursuing her doctorate in government science at IPDN Jakarta.
