The Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, has commended the swift action taken by the Jakarta Metro Police in apprehending the perpetrator of the murder of Ermanto Usman (65) in Jatibening, Bekasi City, West Java. Habiburokhman stated that the case resolution was achieved thanks to the hard work of Metro Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Sugeri and his team.

“On behalf of Commission III of the DPR, we commend the Jakarta Metro Police for acting quickly to apprehend the perpetrator of Ermanto Usman’s murder,” Habiburokhman told reporters on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

“We express our gratitude to Police Chief Asep Edi Sugeri and his team, who worked tirelessly day and night to uncover this case and apprehend the perpetrator,” he added.

Habiburokhman has called on investigators to pursue the case to its conclusion. He also requested that the Jakarta Metro Police investigators provide updates on the case to the public.

“We support investigators in pursuing this case to completion and subsequently communicating the investigation results to the public,” he said.

Habiburokhman further requested that the perpetrator’s motive and whether there was involvement of other individuals in the case be disclosed transparently. According to him, this would prevent baseless speculation.

“Once the investigation is complete, we request that it be disclosed whether the perpetrator acted alone, how the crime was committed, and what the motive was. This will prevent unfounded speculation,” he said.

Ermanto Usman was a retired employee of Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT). Ermanto and his wife were discovered covered in blood at their residence in Bekasi. It transpired that Ermanto was a victim of robbery. During the robbery, Ermanto Usman died at the scene after being struck with a crowbar by the perpetrator. Meanwhile, Ermanto’s wife, whose initials are P, is still undergoing hospital treatment due to critical injuries.

The perpetrator is identified as Sudirman alias Yuda. The perpetrator was arrested at 18:54 on Monday, 9 March, in Cilincing, North Jakarta.

The perpetrator stole various items ranging from jewellery to car keys. A series of evidence secured by police included a crowbar identified as the weapon used by the perpetrator to kill the victim, cash, three mobile phones, one laptop, and one pair of scissors.

Robbery Motive

The Jakarta Metro Police revealed that the perpetrator did not target the victim specifically and selected the house at random.

“The motive for theft or murder committed as part of the theft series by the suspect,” said the Criminal Investigation Director of the Jakarta Metro Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, at a press conference on Wednesday, 10 March.

Iman stated that the perpetrator noticed Ermanto Usman’s house was the largest in the area. The perpetrator therefore assumed there would be many items to steal.

“The perpetrator observed that this house was the largest in the area, so the perpetrator believed they could obtain a considerable number of valuable items,” he explained.
