The Head of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, has responded to the controversy surrounding NasDem Party member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Eva Stevany Rataba, who was reported to be listed in decile 4 as a recipient of the Family Hope Program (PKH) social assistance. Amalia confirmed that a data update has since been conducted, ensuring Eva’s status is now recorded in decile 10.

“It has been updated. After the data was submitted and updated, it is now in decile 10,” Amalia told reporters on Tuesday (8/9/2026).

She stated that, according to information from the Minister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf, Eva has never received social assistance (bansos). Although she was previously recorded in decile 4, she did not receive any benefits.

“The Minister of Social Affairs’ message was this: although she was initially in decile 4, she did not receive social assistance. But now it has been updated and is now decile 10,” she said.

She explained that the National Single Socio-Economic Data (DTSEN) is an integration of various data sources that were previously scattered with differing levels of data quality. BPS subsequently performs data cleaning, consistency checks, and ensures alignment with population data.

“Cleaning is performed to remove data regarding deceased individuals and new births; unification is carried out to ensure single NIK (National Identity Number) and single KK (Family Card), preventing duplication and ensuring formats match Dukcapil (Civil Registry) data,” she explained.

Amalia emphasised that the process of updating and refining the DTSEN is being carried out gradually using various data sources. She noted that one of the data sources for future DTSEN updates will be the results of the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026).

“In this update and refinement process, we also provide space for the public to perform independent updates through the CEK DTSEN channel, and the Ministry of Social Affairs has opened channels for proposing or contesting social assistance through SIKS-NG, Cek Bansos, WhatsApp centres, and call centres,” she elaborated.

“Furthermore, it should be noted that DTSEN is a database of the socio-economic condition of the community (socio-economic registry), not a beneficiary registry. Therefore, the determination of programme targets is the policy of the relevant minister. The underlying data comes from the DTSEN,” she added.

Previously, NasDem Party MP Eva Stevany Rataba spoke out regarding the widespread reports that she was listed in decile 4 as a recipient of the Family Hope Program (PKH). Eva asserted that she has never received PKH assistance.

“Regarding the circulating news concerning my name being recorded in the decile 4 group, I need to provide a clarification so that the public receives correct information and no misunderstandings arise,” Eva said in her statement on Tuesday (8/9/2026).

“I emphasise that I have never received social assistance from the Family Hope Program (PKH) and have never registered myself as a recipient of such social assistance,” she continued.

It is noted that Eva came under scrutiny on social media after her name was allegedly included in decile 4 of the National Single Socio-Economic Data (DTSEN). Eva was also rumoured to be registered as a recipient of PKH social assistance.
