According to Babe Haikal, the collaboration between BPJPH and the Central Java Provincial Government serves as an example of effective and integrated cross-sector cooperation. He assessed that Central Java has the potential to become a pilot region in strengthening the halal ecosystem. “I am very pleased with the presence of Gus Wagub. This is the kind of strong collaboration we hope for. Central Java deserves to be a role model in a strong and comprehensive collaboration, starting from strengthening Animal Slaughterhouses (RPH), poultry slaughterhouses, attention to non-compliant halal businesses, to locations that we will continue to monitor together in the future,” said Babe Haikal in a written statement on Thursday (30/4/2026). Babe Haikal stated that the steps taken by the Central Java Provincial Government reflect the comprehensive development of the halal ecosystem at the regional level. He also appreciated the tangible support from the Provincial Government through land grants to strengthen BPJPH’s institutions in Central Java. According to him, this support demonstrates the seriousness of the Central Java Provincial Government in building a sustainable halal ecosystem. “This is an example that can be replicated in other regions, showing how local governments can be present and actively play a role in building a comprehensive halal ecosystem,” he added. Babe Haikal also highlighted the Central Java Provincial Government’s attention to the oversight of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG). Of nearly 5,000 SPPG in Central Java, all are encouraged to meet the requirements in line with the President’s directives, from hygiene certificates, sanitation, to halal certificates. “Of the nearly five thousand SPPG in Central Java, all of them are also part of the attention and oversight. This is in line with Mr. President Prabowo’s directive that in addition to cleanliness and sanitation standards, the halal aspect must also be ensured,” he continued. Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen said his visit to BPJPH was a follow-up to the 2027 planning Musrenbang results. The focus includes developing sustainable Muslim-friendly tourism and strengthening the sharia economy. “We want to encourage Central Java to become an increasingly Muslim-friendly region, strengthen halal tourism, and increase the number of halal-certified food products. The results of this consultation will be brought back to Central Java for business oversight and UMKM coaching so that more can be halal certified,” said Taj Yasin Maimoen. “We target that in 2027, Central Java can experience a significant increase in the Muslim tourism sector and halal-certified products. Therefore, we continue to encourage business actors, especially UMKM, to immediately obtain halal certificates,” he added. Taj Yasin added that if financing support through the Regional Budget is limited, the Provincial Government will encourage the role of the private sector. One of them is through the adoptive parent scheme for UMKM in the halal certification process. On the same occasion, BPJPH Main Secretary Muhammad Aqil Irham mentioned that of more than 4,311 SPPG in Central Java, 814 of them already have halal certificates. Meanwhile, nationally, of a total of 12.7 million halal-certified products, nearly 2.2 million products originate from Central Java. The meeting was also attended by Central Java Provincial Secretary Soemarno, Deputy for Partnerships and Standardisation Abd Syakur, Deputy for Coaching and JPH Supervision E.A Chuzaemi Abidin, and Head of the Central Java Ministry of Religious Affairs Regional Office Saiful Mujab.
