Head of BPJPH Meets Saudi Ambassador to Discuss Strengthening Halal Product Assurance

During the meeting, the two parties discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in halal product assurance (JPH) and opportunities for developing and enhancing existing synergies. The JPH synergy is expected to bolster bilateral collaboration in the industrial and trade sectors for halal products, which are growing rapidly and becoming increasingly competitive.

BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan stated that diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have been established for 76 years and hold a strategic position in the development of the global halal industry. In addition to strengthening the productivity of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, this synergy is also expected to make a positive contribution to the growth of the global halal economy.

“Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have very good and historical relations. This meeting is important to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries, especially in the development of the economy and trade in halal products, which is now a global concern with ever-increasing value,” Haikal said in his statement on Thursday (14/5/2026).

Haikal added that strengthening international cooperation in the halal sector is also an important part of building a modern, trusted, and globally competitive halal ecosystem. This is marked by the signing of cooperation agreements between BPJPH and the Saudi Halal Center (SHC), as well as BPJPH and the Gulf Accreditation Countries (GAC).

“Indonesia continues to promote the strengthening of halal product assurance implementation as part of national economic transformation and enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian products in the international market,” he added.

Meanwhile, Saudi Ambassador Faisal Abdullah Al-Amudi welcomed the idea of strengthening such cooperation. According to him, Indonesia is a strategic partner for Saudi Arabia, including in the development of the halal sector and trade between the two countries.

The meeting also reaffirmed the commitment of Indonesia and Saudi Arabia to continue strengthening communication, coordination, and cooperation in the halal sector. Strengthening synergy between the two countries is expected to support increased trade in halal products, expand investment opportunities, and strengthen the positions of Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in the increasingly developing global halal industrial ecosystem.
