Head of BJB Corporate Division Acquitted in Sritex Corruption Case
Semarang (ANTARA) - The Corruption Court (Tipikor) in Semarang, Central Java, has issued an acquittal verdict for former Head of the Corporate and Commercial Division of Bank Jawa Barat dan Banten (BJB), Dicky Syahbandinata, in the alleged corruption case involving the provision of credit facilities to PT Sritex. “Declaring the defendant not proven guilty and must be freed from all charges,” said Presiding Judge Rommel Franciskus Tampubolon during the trial in Semarang on Thursday. Previously, the public prosecutor had demanded a six-year prison sentence for Dicky Syahbandinata. In the trial, the panel of judges examined the prosecutor’s charges, structured subsidiarily, namely violations of Article 603 of the Criminal Code or Article 3 of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes. According to the judge, the defendant, as the head of the credit division, was not proven to have committed any subjective fault, either intentionally or through negligence. “The defendant carried out his authority procedurally,” he said. “Because the defendant is declared not proven guilty, he must be released immediately,” stated the judge. In addition, the judge also requested the restoration of the defendant’s rights following this case verdict. To the public prosecutor, the judge permitted legal remedies regarding the case. Dicky Syahbandinata was tried for granting credit to PT Sritex, which harmed the regional government-owned bank by Rp670 billion.
