The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, has issued an ultimatum or warning to 2,100 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPGs) to continuously improve the quality of their services in the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG). Dadan has even temporarily suspended some of these SPPGs. This step is taken as part of monitoring efforts to ensure service standards are consistently met. “A total of 2,100 SPPGs have been warned, while another 1,789 have had their operations temporarily suspended. Most suspensions were carried out because a number of SPPGs have not yet registered for the Sanitation Hygiene Certificate (SLHS),” said Dadan in Jakarta on Thursday, 2 April 2026. Additionally, there are SPPGs that have registered but whose certificates have not been issued within one month. Even, continued Dadan, SPPGs assessed as providing good services may still be suspended if the SLHS has not been issued. “Suspensions are carried out temporarily until that document (SLHS) is issued. This data may evolve, as the SLHS could be issued in two to three days,” he stated. Besides the SLHS issue, Dadan explained other factors causing suspensions include the unavailability of Wastewater Treatment Installations (IPAL). Therefore, Dadan has urged SPPGs without IPAL to build them immediately. “The duration of the suspension depends on the speed of each unit in meeting those requirements, estimated to range from one to two weeks,” said Dadan. He also mentioned findings during Ramadan, where 62 SPPGs produced menus that were less compliant with regulations and even became a topic of discussion on social media. BGN then temporarily halted the operations of the related SPPGs so they could make improvements. “The issuance of warnings and suspensions is part of coaching efforts. The temporary halt is not a permanent sanction, but rather to allow each SPPG to correct deficiencies before resuming operations,” he said.
