Head of BGN Explains Reasons for Electric Motorcycle Procurement: Access to Remote Areas is Difficult
The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, has revealed the reasons behind the procurement of 21,801 electric motorcycles priced at Rp42 million each for Heads of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG).
He stated that the electric motorcycles are intended to support operational needs in areas with difficult transportation access or that are hard to reach.
“Yes, this programme reaches areas that will be very difficult to access. Reaching villages and areas that can only be accessed by motorcycle. They are to support operations,” said Dadan to reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta, quoted on Thursday, 9 April 2026.
Dadan mentioned that the electric motorcycles are not only for use by SPPG heads but can also be used by employees.
Previously reported, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the budget for motorcycles for Heads of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) is not included in this year’s procurement but was in 2025.
Purbaya made this statement when met ahead of the briefing for Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and echelon I-level officials of Ministries/Institutions at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.
“That was last year’s budget; clearly, there is none this year. I just checked again,” said Purbaya on Wednesday, 8 April 2026.
Regarding the status of the available motorcycles and whether distribution will proceed as planned, Purbaya said that this should be asked to the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana.
“Ask Mr. BGN Chairman about the status,” he said.
