The two individuals appointed as the new Deputy Heads of the BGN are Agustina Arumsari and Major General TNI Trenggono. Nanik Saptari stated that budget oversight will be tightened.

“Beside me is Ms Agustina Arumsari; she has 34 years of experience in oversight and auditing, previously serving as Deputy Head of the BPKP. In accordance with the President’s mandate and her expertise, she will strictly oversee the governance and state finances within the BGN,” Nanik said during a press conference at the BGN office in Jakarta on Thursday (4/6/2026).

Nanik then introduced her deputy, Major General Trenggono, noting that he has submitted his resignation from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). “Before anyone asks why he is active military, the resignation process has been submitted and he will likely retire in the near future; the process began yesterday,” Nanik remarked.

Addressing the inclusion of military personnel, she explained, “He was previously the Deputy President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara. The reason for his appointment is related to the 3T programme (frontier, outermost, and least developed regions), where we require territorial expertise.”

BGN Budget Efficiency

Nanik explained that the new BGN leadership will focus on budget efficiency, noting that the current BGN budget has been reduced to Rp 268 trillion. “We hope to reduce it further without compromising our targets. Therefore, we will continue to implement budget efficiencies across various sectors,” she said.

Nanik stated that planned actions include refocusing beneficiaries, implementing a moratorium on new kitchen sites, and renovating existing kitchens. “This is to ensure they meet standards to produce high-quality food, including the improvement and training of human resources. This means if a kitchen does not comply, we will issue a suspension,” she explained.

She also noted that the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme will be realised in the 3T regions. The BGN will prepare a scheme to ensure this does not place an undue burden on the State Budget (APBN).
